For those of you who went on tour to Bohol must have seen Prony;
“The Philippines’ largest captive reticulated python (Python reticulatus) or baksan in the native language, is found in Bohol. Prony, a female baksan named after its owner Sofronio Salibay, measures 27 feet (8.23 metres) and weighs more than 300 kg according to a Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) estimate.” according to the blog post of Visit Bohol
It goes with out saying you’ve seen “Marimar” as well..
The sad news came to me via Facebook status of fellow Tour Guide and Bohol Province Protocol Officer Cristopher Boncales and i qoute “PRON…….–gikan sa tanan nga imong naka himamat,ming disturbo sa imong pagpahulay kay mag pahulagway uban kanimo,ming “DARE” ug sulod sa imong “cage” aron ingnon ug isog kunuhay,ug labaw sa tanan….sa mga tawo nga naka kwarta sa imong pagka BITIN…nahimo kang parte sa industriyang gitawag ug TURISMO nga daghan nakinabang ug nadatu….SALAMAT PRONY!!!” end of qoute.
Boncales said Prony pass away early this morning.
No Plans yet on what to do with the carcass.
Prony was captured in 1996 in Upper Sta Filomena in the town of Albur, where she also lives for more than a decade.
The Animal Kingdom Federation, Inc. (AKFI), an SEC registered, non-profit and non-stock animal welfare organization registered with the Animal Welfare Division of the Bureau of Animal Industry recently vowed to build an animal sanctuary in Albuquerque. The AKFI made this commitment after hearing reports on the then 23-foot (7.0 m) long python locally called baksan, owned by Sofronio Salibay in Barangay Sta. Filomena, has been fed with stray dogs.
In March 2012, Prony was finally relocated to a larger sanctuary in Brgy Laya Baclayon, Bohol, after years of misunderstanding between Albur Mayor Efren Tungol and the python’s caretaker Eugene Salibay..(Wikipedia)
To Prony Daghanag Salamat.
