 Davide, Cebu delegation in Russia, promote people-to-people connectivity

Governor Hilario Davide lll arrived in Russia Sunday afternoon upon the invitation of Governor Georgy Poltavchenko to renew the twinning agreement between Cebu Province and St. Petersburg Administration.
 
“We are pleased to be here, finally, in the historic city of St. Petersburg to promote people-to-people connectivity,” said Davide, who mentioned that the trip has been postponed twice due to scheduling concerns.

Governor Poltavchenko expressed his gratitude for the “interest and attention to enhancing tight and fruitful cooperation between St. Petersburg and province of Cebu” in his letter to Davide. He is also optimistic that both will “effectively advance the dialogue on the broadest range of issues.”
 
Davide will discuss with his counterpart various areas of potential cooperation which were taken up during the recent visit of Ambassador Igor Khovaev of the Russian Federation together with Honorary Consul Armi Lopez Garcia in Capitol. These include educational exchanges, arts, culture and sports cooperation, tourism and investments promotion, and knowledge sharing on disaster preparedness, emergency response and crisis management. 

“We are hopeful that this meeting will allow us to know each other better and improve connectivity between the two nations,’ said Davide. Ambassador Khovaev also mentioned that “this will serve as one of the platforms for the forthcoming visit of President Vladimir Putin and meeting with President Benigno Aquino lll during the November 2015  APEC Forum in Manila.
 
Khovaev said that “this visit to St. Petersburg and Moscow will be mentioned and highlighted in terms of regional cooperation among local governments of both countries.” The delegation will meet with the highest female politician in Russia, Mrs. Valentina Matviyenko, chairperson of the Federation Council and former governor of St. Petersburg. Ambassador Carlos Sorreta will also receive the delegation in the Philippine Embassy in Moscow. 

Davide is thankful to Consul  Armi Lopez-Garcia and former Governor Gwendolyn Garcia for initiating the agreement in June 2009. He is joined in the delegation by Provincial Board Member Joven Mondigo Jr., Mayor Democrito Mendoza, Mr. Lito Maderazo, and representatives of the private sector in Cebu.

A call for Visayas entries to the National Digital Arts Awards 2015

Organizers of the National Digital Arts Awards (NDAA) 2015 are calling for entries from the Visayas. Globaltronics, a company specializing in digital advertising in the Philippines, is encouraging students who aspire to be part of the country’s digital arts community to join the contest.

“We are calling on Bisaya youth to be part of the NDAA 2015 Visayas leg. This is your chance to highlight your talents in creating artistic works using new tools in the digital media,” said Nato Agbayani, Globaltronics Vice President for External Affairs and Partnerships.

Agbayani added that this year’s theme #DigitalPinoyAko aims to highlight the works of Filipino youth and their interpretation of the Philippines as a country of daring and innovative people that continues to rise with the help of digital technology.

Globaltronics is partnering with local universities and colleges to encourage more entries from students, especially those from the Visayas. The official school partners are Benedicto College, Southwestern University, St. Theresa’s College, University of Cebu, University of San Jose-Recoletos, and the University of the Philippines Cebu.

The competition is open to 16 -26 year old secondary, college or technical vocational Filipino students. Participants can submit works adhering to the theme #DigitalPinoyAko in two categories: motion graphics and print. A participant can submit an entry in both categories. Deadline for submission of entries is on October 16, 2015.

Judging the entries will be top Filipino creative professionals and experts including Dan Matutina, Plus63 Design Co. Designer and Illustrator; Leeroy New, Visual Artist and Production Designer; Nicolo Nimor, Art Director and Nick Automatic Owner; Chitchat Diangson, Creative Director of David Integrated Marketing Communications PH; Brandie Tan, Jimenezbasic Advertising Executive Creative Director;

Sid Maderazo, 88 Storey Films TVC Director; Dolps Fernando, PostManila Post-production Head; Andre Cui, Fluid Communications Creative Director; Benedick Bana, Chairperson of the Ateneo de Naga University Department of Digital Arts and Computer Animation; Edwin Ortega, Grupo Agatep Creative Director; and Jay Dustin Santiago, Creative Director of ABS-CBN Global Marketing Service.  

Four awards will be given: 1st, 2nd, 3rd as major awards and a People’s Choice award that will be given to the entry that garnered the most votes online. One million in cash and prizes will be given as prizes during the Awards Night set on January 15, 2016.

AirAsia and Nikon launch #IamAirAsiaTravelPhotographer contest

MANILA, 16 July 2015 – Two office workers, a car salesman and a barista are stepping out of their comfort zones and into the challenges of becoming the first AirAsia Travel Photographer for 2015. The #IamAirAsiaTravelPhotographer contest  is jointly organized by AirAsia and ThinkDharma Inc. (exclusive distributor of Nikon Digital Cameras) in partnership with AirAsia’s global loyalty programme, BIG which will award winners with over 200,000 BIG Points or its equivalent free flights to any of AirAsia Group’s 100 destinations.

 

Assisted by multi-awarded photographers from the Philippines and Malaysia as their personal coach, four pre-selected contestants, namely Velvet Lagman-Macasaet, an executive assistant and marathon runner; Sarah Garcia, hotel front desk officer; TJ  Nepomuceno III, car salesman; and Paul Delfin, an indie music fan and barista, will be traveling across Asia for one week starting July 21. Online voting via www.airasiatravelphotographer.com will be opened to the public in August 20 with Nikon cameras and BIG Points to be given away to lucky voters. Grand winner will be announced in September 11.

DU30’s Number

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte, is yet to reveal his political plans for 2016 Presidential Elections, yet his numbers in the surveys are on a steady uptrend.

Digong had been going around the country on what he called as “Listening Tour” promoting not himself but the concept of Federalism. In a forum I attended, He lamented that the very centralized setup of government we currently have most of the countryside specially Mindanao were left behind in growth and development.

Also in the same forum, He showcased how he was able to make Davao City one of the Safest place to live. His critics would link him to the infamous Davao Death Squad (DDS), he would neither accept nor deny it, but would be very upfront to say “If your a Drug pusher in Davao, your Dead”

Duterte’s ruled Davao with iron hand, but this got the investor’s confidence to the City, and turn out to be the most progressive city in an island with a delicate peace and order situation.

What then makes his rising popularity? Many of us are sick and tired of graft and corruption which fast becoming a norm in Philippine Politics. With almost all of the presidential aspirant being accused of graft, Digong came as a better alternative. I think his campaign for Federalism is not really a factor, but more and more people wanted Change.

Can Digong makes this Country great?

Can Digong dismantle Graft and Corruption?

Can Digong Institute Change?

This All Can be answered if the number question is answered.

And tthe Number one question is:

Is Digong running for President?

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes NAMED One of TIME MAGAZINE’S TIME 100 Most Influential People in the World

Kuala Lumpur, April 17 — TIME Magazine named Tony Fernandes to the 2015 TIME 100, the magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The list, now in its twelfth year, recognizes the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals.

Cebu startup powers digital tourism in Albay

TRAVEL to the many attractions of Albay, from Mayon Volcano with its near perfect cone to Spanish period churches and other centuries-old structures, has been made easier with the launch of a mobile app that serves as a handy guide to the province.
The app was built by Cebu-based journalism startup InnoPub Media, in collaboration with the Albay Provincial Government, and wireless services leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart). Albay Guide is a comprehensive travel app that can be downloaded on iOS, Android, and Windows phones and other mobile devices.
“Mobile plays a key role in travel. A study by Google and Ipsos MediaCT showed phones are used throughout the travel process – from getting travel inspiration to planning, booking, experiencing and even post traveling – with 67% of leisure travelers and 78% of business travelers using smartphones,” said InnoPub co-founder Marlen Limpag, “Our phones do not just keep us connected during our trips, they are our cameras, boarding passes, portable media players and, in our Digital Tourism program, travel guides.”
The app lists such Albay destinations as the Cagsawa Ruins, Lidong National Park, Mayon Skyline and Mayon Resthouse, Misibis Bay Resort, Lignon Hill Nature Park, Vera Falls, Kawa-Kawa Hill, Embarcadero de Legazpi, and Danao Lake and provides information useful to visitors, such as detailed instructions on getting to the sites and the many activities they can do when they arrive.
 “Albay is one of the most beautiful provinces in the Philippines. It has been cited by international tour organizations as the best destination in Southeast Asia,” said Albay Gov. Joey Salceda.

Whether it is just to know the best spots to view or take a photo of Mayon or get up close and personal through an ATV Ride along the volcano’s lava trail, the Albay Guide is your best bet for information on these activities.
“We’re excited to have this opportunity to bring our digital tourism program to Albay in collaboration with our partners. The province has been a long time partner for various initiatives like disaster preparedness. Aside from enriching people’s travel experiences, digital tourism also opens up opportunities for local communities and businesses,” said Ramon R. Isberto, Smart public affairs group head.
Albay’s beauty, according to Salceda, is not limited to its natural assets. He said the province is also rich in arts and cultural heritage, citing its man-made citadels and monuments, a culinarian that showcases the best in food and thrilling innovations in fine dining, and ladies who have been winning beauty pageants around the world.
“With Albay’s 7.1 percent share in foreign tourists and expanding number of domestic visitors, Smart’s Digital Tourism program will further fortify the province’s position in a highly competitive tourism industry,” said the governor.
The free Albay Guide app and digital markers on top destinations will lead to greater customer satisfaction through easily accessible tourism information and result in more repeat visitors, he added.
“Digital Tourism will boost our product positioning and brand franchising of unique iconic features like Mayon Volcano and Cagsawa Ruins and such unforgettable engagements as the Mayon ATV. It will also fortify our positioning as ecotourism, cultural, and culinary destinations,” Salceda also said.
Also provided in the mobile app are details on travel to Abay’s ancient churches and other heritage monuments, the best places to sample local fares like Bicol Express, pinangat, and sili ice cream, the best pasalubong and where to buy them, hotels and accommodations, as well the top things to do in the province.
The Albay Guide is one component of Smart’s digital tourism program launched in the historic and majestic Our Lady of the Gate Church in Daraga, Albay last April 10.
“It is a unique launching place: it is on top of Santa Maria Hill, in front of the centuries-old baroque church, overlooking the center of Albay, and under the shadows of the Majestic Mayon Volcano. How nice it would be to unveil a technological wonder so close to the clouds yet firmly grounded on the natural wonders of Albay,” said Salceda.
Interactive markers will also be deployed on special sites like churches, plazas, and monuments to provide visitors more information on Albay’s rich historical heritage.

Social Media brought about change in almost all aspect of our life, and one sector that chance much is in the field of advertisement. One form of Ad is gaining traction is Native Advertising.

Wikipedia says “Native advertising is an online advertising method in which the advertiser attempts to gain attention by providing content in the context of the user’s experience. Native ad formats match both the form and function of the user experience in which they are placed. The advertiser’s intent is to make the paid advertising feel less intrusive and thus increase the likelihood users will click on it. The word “native” is used to refer to the formatting of the advertising materials to make them appear more consistent with other media in the recipient’s universe.”

The Ad does not directly sells you the product, but rather appeal to your emotions, makes you fell good  and makes you hit that share button.

It doesn’t even need superstar to be in the advertisement, just ordinary people with real story.
